PDF - Robey Article ‘Skelton’ c1590 Lantern Clock

A very similar clock discovered in 2020, with a unique striking detent locking mechanism dating ~c1590 (previously unknown). The Bowyer clock has a provenance of it being in a long tern collection for the last three decades; there are now two clocks known sharing this design. The Skelton clock also shares considerable number of style and design feature of the the Bowyer clock. The latter was restored in the last 40 years and included reinstating the verge balance escapement it would have had originally.

Further research will support an upcoming article and will include XRF X-ray fluorescence analysis of the alloys to assess ages of the components. I beleive the clock to be >85% original.

Dial plate is probably original.
