A Rare Mid 18th C Miniature Striking London Lantern Clock by George Prior

A faithful 19th century copy of a continental 17th century wall timepiece with alarm. Painted iron dial bearing the date 1668.

The iron frame surmounted by a bell within a cruciform strap over a heavy iron balance to a verge escapement, the 4.75 inch shaped painted iron dial bearing the date 1668 between columns over a Gothic Roman chapter ring with pierced hand and Arabic alarm setting disc to the centre. Well made, fine functioning balance wheel verge escapement with timing weights.
