An original early brass lantern clock case with later, quality W & H two train, QUARTER STRIKING movement striking on two bells, the 6.75" brass chapter ring enclosing a foliate engraved centre signed Richard Greenhill, Canterbury fecit, pierced foliate frets, strapwork bell and finial, 16" high (pendulum). Hands added at the time of fusee conversion (Edwardian).
~15% larger size than std lantern frame.
Richard Greenhill is known to have started producing lantern clocks c1655 in Ashford;
this case dates ~1675.
Operates as it should. Excellent value.
