Square Dial, London Lantern Clock 'John Andrews' c 1700

A brass lantern clock with the original thirty-hour weight driven movement striking the hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the seven-inch square dial having a silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals, meeting-arrow-head half-hour markera and signed J. Andrews, London, with floral engraving to the dial edge, a matted centre, cast-brass cherub-head spandrels to the four corners and a single steel hand, the brass case with pillars to the four corners surmounted by cast finials, with engraved front fret. Original iron back, 

Original verge pendulum. Separate train winding on individual ropes / weights. Hoop and Spike.

Cleaned and sympathetically restored.
